What is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) is a regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission intend to strengthen and unify data protection for all individuals within the European Union (EU). It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. The GDPR aims primarily to give control back to citizens and residents over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business by unifying the regulation within the EU.
Which data may be collected?
Munich Toastmasters may collect your name, address, phone number and email via the membership application, GDPR and photo release form.
Where is your data retained?
- easySpeak – https://tmclub.eu
- Toastmasters International – https://www.toastmasters.org
- All membership, GDPR and photo release forms are securely stored in paper form by the Club Secretary
Data Retention
Munich Toastmasters holds your data only as long as is necessary to serve its purpose. If you request your data to be erased, Munich Toastmasters will comply within 72 hours. Should you request a complete erasure of your data, Munich Toastmasters will not be able to retrieve your records and erasure will be permanent. This erasure may take place when you choose to switch clubs, or decide that you no longer want to be a Toastmaster.
How is the data accessed?
The data can be accessed via login to easySpeak – https://tmclub.eu and Toastmasters International – https://www.toastmasters.org.
Who has access to your data?
Club officers have access to member data on easySpeak and Toastmasters International.
Club members have access to easySpeak and Toastmasters International.
Subject Access Requests
You may request a copy of your personal data that Munich Toastmasters retains at any time. Munich Toastmasters will provide this data without delay.
How it your data used?
Munich Toastmasters uses your data for a variety of club-related purposes to keep you informed about club and organizational news, as well as for membership fee payments. Munich Toastmasters uses two platforms for the latter:
- easySpeak: to schedule meetings and inform members about club-related activities.
- Toastmasters International: to save address details (to deliver the Toastmasters International magazine), to track members’ payment statuses and to access Pathways.
